ORGANIZING A ROBOTICS COMPETITION: TERMITOMATOR
Bridging Campuses Through Robotics
As one of the main organizers of the AI & Robotics Club’s robotic competition at Miami Dade College, I wanted to create more than just an exciting event—I aimed to connect students passionate about robotics across all eight campuses. Many students are unaware of like-minded peers at other campuses, and this competition was designed to bridge that gap, fostering a stronger robotics community.
The Competition
Participants modify VEX kits to build their own robots, each carrying a Tomato as its symbolic pilot. The challenge? Protect your Tomato while eliminating the others in a battle of strategy, engineering, and control.
My Contributions
I developed the rules of the competition that guide how the robots are built and compete. To push creativity, I built a robot equipped with a chainsaw, which quickly became a crowd favorite.
Impact
This competition not only brought excitement and engagement, but it is also helping students discover and collaborate with fellow robotics enthusiasts across the entire college.
